  • Transmitter for micro helis & 3D?

I'm new to helis, as many I've started with the v911 and I'm now putting in many hours in the sim with a cp heli before moving to the next step.

My future goal is to do 3D, no plans in the horizon for big helis, just stick with micros, as I don't have a club nearby (SW london) nor a field to fly them.

My next step is going to be a Nano Blade CPX and/or a Nano QX 3D, therefore I need a DSM compatible transmitter.

I've read that the more channels the better (because you never know what you will need in the future) In my case I don't think I will ever need more than 6 channels, and if that is the case it's going to be so far in the future that I will probably don't mind buying another transmitter.

So the question is: which transmitter? I like the new dx6 very much, but would like to hear from the experts if there are any other good alternatives out there.
    Thanks!

DX6 is a good choice, FRSky do some good budget stuff but if it were me I would go with the Spectrum. There are some very good deals on DX8's at the moment too which is a very good Tx for little money

If you are buying micros that are from the blade range, then you really have no (realistic) option than to buy a Spektrum transmitter, as all of the blade micros are either DSM2 or DSMX , both of which are now exclusive to Spektrum.

I used (and still do on the micros) spektrum for around 3 years and didnt have any issues with them.

If you are not going to be flying anything other than micros for the foreseeable future then a Dx6 will do you just fine, either the new or the old (Dx6i DSMX) version.

If you get into this in anyway, then your thoughts about not flying bigger helis probably wont last long though.....

Step by step :-) before going bigger I really want to master the micro size....and that is going to take time.

I see good deals on the dx8, but I've read that the new dx6 is better that old dx8, as the dx8 is the 'old' platform, and people recommend either the new dx6-7 or jump to the dx9.

One is an older (like 3 years old) design and 8 channel, and the other is a newly designed 6 channel, so its not really a case of which is 'better', rather than they are different. The transmitted protocols are identical (DSMX or DSM2)

So which one would you get? Old dx8 or new dx6?
