  • Spektrum Won't Hold Bind

My Spektrum module arrived today for my JR 9xii Tx.

I've just spent an hour trying to get it to work with very little success.

I can bind it to the receiver ok, but after just two or three seconds, the light goes out on the Tx module and the receiver goes into failsafe - i.e. the Tx is not transmitting any more. Even whithout the Rx in the equation, each time I turn the Tx off and on gets mixed results. Sometimes I get a solid light for a few seconds but then it goes out completely, and other times I get a blinking light for a few seconds before it goes off completely.

Any ideas what's going on? Seems like something is defunct to me, unless I'm doing something really dumb.

I've set everything up as per the destructions that came with the module.

It sounds like a faulty module, the light on the module should stay on when in use unless you push the bind button in to use the range check mode.

Looks like a faulty module to me to.

Have discussed it with the supplier this morning and they are happy to exchange it. Just to be sure, I'm going to try the module in my mate's 35MHz JR 10X this evening at the field to see what happens.

If you are going to try out the module on another JR TX, do make sure the TX modulation is switched to PPM.

I noticed a problem with my FF9 module yesterday. I tried to check setup on my trex, but the Tx would not bind with the Rx! There was no light on the module, so I unplugged it and noticed it was very warm!

I left it for a while thinking that I would have to return it. However after leaving it to cool, it started working properly!

Now I am worried seems to work fine, but is it likely to stop working mid flight????

All Txs concerned have been set to PPM as per the destructions.

I tried it in my friend's 10X this evening and exactly the same fault.

Clearly the module is a duff one. Doesn't exactly fill me with confidence as I dip my toe into the world of 2.4 GHz for the first time.

Fast Lads service over the issue has been superb so far.

Sorry if you've had problems with your module, mine has been in use since they became available last year without any problems. I have heard of isolated cases before where modules don't work, thankfully it's not at all common but no consolation when you get a duff one.

Once you get it sorted I'm sure you'll love 2.4ghz
