last year i had to return my dx8 to horizon hobby because i had an issue with the gimbal, only found this out after crashing my trex 500, anyway a couple of months ago i bought a trex550 , when the countdown on the transmitter went off all power went and she floated down gently to the ground, luckily i was only hovering just off the ground. seems like that was an old problem and only happened at the end of the countdown when the timer was set to vibrate and tone, so since then i have been flying on tone only , today though on the 3rd battery buzzer went off and all power failed and down she came done the main blades and tail blades but could of been so much worse,i thought the battery had died on me but after checking things out, my tx is cutting all the power to the helicopter when the countdown ends, also noticed there is the occasional jump of the swashplate at the same time. i think i will have to send this tx back and get it sorted then get rid of asap, i dont trust it anymore.

Aro3 lost a model due to similar behaviour, he was videoing at the time and HH wouldn't wear any of the responsibility. The vid showed categorically that it was the buzzer that caused the power loss. How HH couldn't admit it was down to a fault in the TX I don't know.
As you say have it repaired and then sell it or ask HH of they would consider a large discount against a DX9

I had the same happen to my Logo about 18 months ago. I didn't realise that you shouldn't use tone & vibrate with any FBL unit. Says so in the manual apparently. As the vibe draws more power from Tx, signal suffers, or so I was told at the time that HH looked at it for me. They did replace throttle gimbal, "for customers' peace of mind". I'm guessing it's not the same kind of peace you are thinking of lol. My bill was about £150 if memory serves (I've had a few downs since then hahaha). I'd like to change to Dx9, but don't think the wife will wear a new Tx AND new heli. She's only just getting over the shock of my 10 flight old Agile 5.5 that destroyed itself, along with vbar, Gryphon and 2 servos, oh, and the Opti 5000.....ouchhhhh!
Good luck anyway

im not a fan of the dsx9, a friend has a dx18 and he 's got a few issues with that including a problem with the gimbals, i cannt afford togo futaba and the way i feel about spektrum right now i cant afford not to go futaba feels like rock and hard place, horible feeling not having confidence in your transmitter

True dat!! Having said that, a few friends have Dx9's & they're raving about them. Ok, they've not been out very long. If you go futaba, it's receivers, etc etc etc, making it even more hard earned cash.Andy

I had no luck with the DX8 .... had similar issue where vibe caused massive stick inputs ... videoed it on the bench and HH fixed... had a failed Tx module too
I have a DX9 now and it was flawless for 9 months until the day i plugged in the buddy lead for AccuRC and shut-down the screen (HH replaced under warranty)Gaui X4 II VBar - Trex 500 efl Pro VBar

I had a DX9 do this to me -but with Phoenix, and when I touched a (metal) switch.Originally posted by highlightshadow View PostI have a DX9 now and it was flawless for 9 months until the day i plugged in the buddy lead for AccuRC and shut-down the screen (HH replaced under warranty)
My wild guess is that it's static/ESR related. ie you discharge through the trainer cable, and damage the Tx. I periodically discharge myself through the PC case as a precaution. It's just a guess, though.Yes, it's th@ tw@ Scallyb@...

Yeah ... something like that .... unacceptable imho that a Tx should fail instantly on plugging in a cable that its designed to accept!!Originally posted by scallybert View PostI had a DX9 do this to me -but with Phoenix, and when I touched a (metal) switch.

Yes HH replaced the screen under warranty ... but i'm still left with a Tx i cannot/dare not use with a buddy lead .... hence why i now use a Sat with AccuRC now....Gaui X4 II VBar - Trex 500 efl Pro VBar

That's why I regularly discharge myself. I use Phoenix (through the buddy interface) a lot.Originally posted by highlightshadow View PostYeah ... something like that .... unacceptable imho that a Tx should fail instantly on plugging in a cable that its designed to accept!!
