spektrum DX9 throttle stick limited travel

Does any one know why the throttle stick on the dx9 has limited travel? Does it have any advantages?

Removing the wedges allows a longer throw of the stick so I suppose more resolution per throw. IE the same resolution but split over a bigger movement, probably finer pitch control

i have just put them in my xg8 so as its the same as my pcm10 as i dont like the long thro i sopoz its personal feel
