  • Turnigy 9XR

This has had some slating in this forum in the past but there are no comments less than about a year old. Has anybody experience with the latest version which is now getting some good reports elsewhere.

Open tx rocks. Those that slate it are envious of its capabilities compared to their high end expensive radios.

Put a frsky module in it, and be happy you have rock solid rf, and features even a futaba 18mz doesn't have. I'll concede expensive radios have nicer gimbals and more user friendly programming, but you pay your money and you make your choice.

I'd personally spend more on the taranis as its the best implementation of frsky rf and telemetry/open tx out at the moment.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

Does the Taranis take the same modules as the 9XR?

That's a lovely looking TX, I do like Jr radios, even if they have another brand name on the case lol

Taranis rocks big time. The feature list is massive and everything is rock solid. An incredible radio especially for the money. I simply cannot find any reports of brown outs or failures. Don't mix up Taranis with turnigy. This is not a turnigy product.
Once you get your head round the programming is a joy to use. The programming possibilities are endless.
Telemetry, sbus, 32 channel, speech feedback, infinite switch programming, it's all there built in ready to go. Superb stuff.
            Cheers, Rich
