  • DX6i advice please

    Just a simple one really.

My CX2 Tx had to be switched on when using it with Phoenix it appears that my DX6i doesn't need to be switched on is this normal???

Just like to say had a quick look at the manual and I'm really confused about all the settings and things just going to try and experiment with Phoenix now and see how I get on!!

The Dx6i will automatically power on when you put the jack plug in. You will be suprised with a bit of reading on this site and a few changes using the sim how much you will learn.

I'm still trying to get th Tx to work on it at the moment!

Full throttle just about gets it off the ground,

Any threads you can recommend me to!

I reallly want to get the hang of it!

Have you run through the full calibration of your DX6 in the Simulator? That would be a good starting point. The red bars will move up and down showing you what deflection you are getting from your transmitter.

Yeah I did the calibration but didn't make any difference.

Will have a play later once I have finished the work I have to do.

Am I right in thinking that the left up and down trim needs to be at zero so that at throttle down the heli blades aren't moving??

Thanks for the help will keep you posted!

And strangely needs to be turned off to work with Phoenix.

I messed with the throttle & pitch curves on my DX6i to get around this.

It surprised me that I needed to (which always makes me wonder if there's a better solution), but it was fun and worked out ok.

I assumed I wanted to hover at about 50%, so increased the pitch and throttle values at 50% until it had enough lift there, then smothed out the rest of the curves.

You can have fun playing with the curves in the other flight mode to see what effect (eg) increasing throttle and reducing pitch has compared to fm0, adn trying to make sure that switching flight mode doesn' result in altidude gain or loss.

If you've switched from the BCX2 Tx, bear mind you now want the Tx doing the collective pitch, as well as the throttle.

Not that I'm particularly competent or sophisticated, but I use different models on the DX6i for different helis (B4003D, T-Rex 600) on Phoenix. if nothing else, it means I can twiddle values for one model, without affecting the other. I've done quite a lot of twiddling with the B4003D, as I really struggled to hover it.

What version Phoenix you running mate? 1.05H is the latest and has DX6i Profile. Then you should just be able to calibrate it. Make sure you have your own model set up and use default settings. You can always play with some later on.
