  • When is JR DSX9 available in UK?

    Hi All.
Any one know when can I buy a DSX9 in UK,as I'm thinking to buy one on ebay from Hong Kong.
JR UK is too slow on bringing the radio out.

I have been told 6 weeks a couple of weeks ago, so we are talking something around the end of April or sooner.

Because of the issue RE reduced power levels for the UK you would be ill advised to buy from abroad as you may end up with an illegal transmitter that invalidates your BMFA insurance.
The UK power version is not available yet so if anyone sees you with one they will know you are at illegal power levels!

They are due in the country by the end of March/beginning of April.
So you should get your hands on 1 in the next couple of weeks.

Buy from the UK and you wont have any issues with the power output, leaving you with an expensive Tx that your club wont let you use.

Can pretty much guarantee there will be obvious visual differences between UK ones and imported ones like there is on the standard 9x2, so you will probably get found out.

        Guys,

Unfortunately the availability of this system was delayed because of having to get it CE certified out of the country. (Many reasons for this decision but not going to go into them). Hopefully we should see them very very soon, as soon as I know anything for definite, it will be on the MacGregor website and also posted in all the main forums.

Off topic but have you been hoofed off Runryder Mac_man? I've noticed you've been missing for a few days.

This has been discussed many times... basically the CE marks mean nothing..

Wait for the official set if you want to be legal and your insurance to be valid.

Well...Actually... if you look at the CE mark it has an Exclamation mark afterwards indicating that it MAY only be suitable for certain EU countries or regions..The CE mark is an EU wide standard..whatever happened to the good old kite mark..LOL.

Also the UK Items will likely be MacGregor badged and not JR as the other regions.

The whole JR/Spektrum situation has turned into one big joke IMHO...

Due to all the waiting and carry on I've just returned to the Futaba fold with a shiny new FG 12, 2.4..for the reasons below..

I still have my early UK purchased DX7 which is badged as above and when range checked (low power mode) I get 120 paces easily + as does my flying buddy on an early speccie 9X2 module conversion, again UK bought.

Recently two other local pilots opted for the Speccie conversions one a 9X2 the other a 10X.

On range checking, both these only returned around 35 paces, so something is not quite adding up with respect to power outputs/or DB transmission levels..

As a comparision the 12FG range checks to a similiar distance to the originial DX7/Speccie moduled 9X2 as did a visiting pilots grey imported DSX9

Will I be returning my DX7 for rechecking...Hell no...

Regarding the CE marking, somebody goofed up big style and labelled certain systems as CE approved before it was in the test labs. Just to reiterate, the European version of the DSX9 IS NOT YET available. Once it is ready we will be sent them. Trust me, we will not be sitting on these radios waiting for the right time to release them. (My own personal view is that moment was 3 months ago, but as I said previously, having it tested in Japan was not our decision)

Re RunRyder, discretion being the better part of valour etc etc, I decided it was an appropriate time to voluntarily "retire".

Amusing to note that on the main HH sponsored forums, the support forum for Spektrum & JR products has been closed down as the spokesperson has a new function within HH and cannot spare the time to deal with queries !

Shame really as he was a decent chap......

                        Hi Mac_man,

Do you know if JR will be offering a similar buy one get one free offer like Horizon Hobby UK is, on receivers when buying a new radio?

                        Tim.

I think the simple answer to that would be " I haven't a clue !"

I would hazard a guess and say no, Spektrum and JR share the technology but not the manufacturing plants..... JR are made in Japan, Spektrum isn't.

However.... I will ask on Monday to see if they have any glimmers of a speculation to cross their minds to even think of offering that possibility.

I wonder..... can I upload a sound clip of hysterical laughter. ?

Glad to have provided amusement, lol

I imagine that the demand for the DSX9 will be pretty large so sales promotions won’t be on the agenda for a good while yet. The thing is that its pretty unfair for us compared to our American friends though.
