New Transmitters

Im just looking at present as there are a lot of new radios coming on the market and with mine coming up to 2 yrs old in Jan I may take the plunge and buy a new one. However Im not keen on what I call the power ranger radios like the JR DSX 11. The XG14 is ok but I don't really know . I love my DSX9 2 and would love a new one but there seems to be a shortage as the model is dated. Has anybody got any info are they doing a new one or will have to buy a DSX12 as I love the style and feel of these radios ??????

You should have a look at one of these:

FrSky NEWS-TARANIS Transmitter

They bought the tooling for the DSX-9 off JR, so it should look familiar! ARM processor, SD card for model memories (so almost infinite storage!), telemetry, built in FRsky RF system, but will also take ANY JR compatible module as a plug-in. This means you can still use your DSM-2, DSM-X, FASST or whatever receivers! Anything for which a JR compatible module is available! When you set up the model memory, you can program it to use either the internal or plug-in module.

And its inexpensive!

The only down-side is that they all seem to be sold before they've even landed in the country! There is a considerable waiting list for them!

I've been using a FRSky based system in fixed wing for nearly two years now, and its proven to be just as reliable as any other system I've owned. The only reason I haven't used it in a heli is that I have it installed in a single-stick transmitter, and after nearly 40 years of having the collective under my right thumb, I'm not sure having it under my middle finger would be conducive to successful flight! Not too much of a problem with planks!

The Taranis is really nice - I had one of the first in the country - love the voices and music and vario etc

My futaba 10c is 6 now and works a treat. If your happy with it send it off for a service and keep using it. The new radios don't do anything different.

Yep it looks like it , I was talking to Robgt earlier and he said it should be ok for years.

jr quality = look after it and it should be good for 10 years

if serviced of course :-)


This is going to be my dilemma when my DSX12 eventually dies,
until then ill carry on using until that day

just dont like the look of the new transmitters, totally fugly :-(

Going to go JR once my DX7se dies, don't like any of the other spectrum tx's and im not tied to spectrum now I don't own a beast x

The jeti stuff looks really good, just the thought of all those rx cables to the spartan units. Fine on vbar though.

Im really battling with pressing the button on a 18mz l. One minute I say to myself "dont be a twat that stupid money on a tx", the other "mmm but it is nice" lol

Rob, keep your JR mate, it's a fantastic quality. Get it serviced next winter, and keep her going if your like it.
