It says in the manual that the version that comes on it's own (ie not with a heli) has NiMH batteries and an overnight charger. Does this mean you can't remove the batteries and use ordinary rechargeable NiMH's? Or can I just undo the battery box as normal and put some fully charged batts in there? Hopefully the latter as I have loads of rechargeable Duracells indoors for that purpose, and loads are ready to go.

Hi
I haven' read the manuel but the UK version is supplied with none rechargeable dry batteries, there is a charging socket on the side of the tranny so you could put loose rechargeable cells in.
BTW they are in stock now, must update website:-)

The DX6i doesn`t come with a charger it comes with 4 AA dry cells.
You can put single rechargable cells in it and use a standard JR charger to charge it, even though it is only 4 cells.
The Tx has a blocking diode in it so that you can charge it with a standard Tx charger.Align T-Rex 600n Pro (Now with 3GX)

I have a DX6i winging it's way to me hopefully today.
I intend to use my Vapextech Instant NiMH's. (The green ones in the following link).

My experience of these batteries so far is excellent in that they do not loose charge like normal NiMH's.
I use them in my FF7 and will now use them in the DX6i as well.
Cheers

Strange, manual says it depends on whether it is boxed in with a heli like the Blade 400 (in which case 4 ordinary batteries) or bought stand alone, in which case comes with NiMH's and an overnight charger. Personally I'd prefer the former....John
