I'm on Mode III -- I'm a lefty and want the cyclic on my left thumb. Makes perfect sense to my 'sinister' brain anyway! I've never heard of anyone actually using Mode IV though.

I am a lefty as well but first Tx was mode 2 so stuck with that as i drive cars the same way I have tried diff modes but like mode 2 the best as it sits easier with my brain and i dont have to think to fly lol

Here is the latency thread DemonJim is talking about - http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t172571p1/. Not sure if I can post links to other forums, I guess the moderator will let me know.

As you can see the FF7 2.4GHz (T7C), is marginally faster than the Spektrum DX7.

I know someone that stacked his heli on a FAST system because he was trying to fly his heli on the Phoenix model memory. I thought Futaba would at least try to keep up with the program by having a SIMULA model match system. I would compare all the features of the 2 radios even the ones you think are not important.

I too WAS a hardcore Futaba fan but after getting a DX7 I have 0 regrets and all the blunders I ave seen from Futaba lately have defiantly put me into the JR camp.
Actually once you get to grips with the DX7 software & menus it is a great radio.

                My 2 cents.

All advice is welcome Nutz. This is Y I asked on here for advice ... Being Futaba user for soo long it was a logical choice to stick with the same make .... But as spekky is about the same price am sorta stuck in a rut lol ....

Knew id read about it somewhere. Ive only just moved to 2.4ghz myself and this partly helped me make my mind up. I too was a hardcore Futaba fan.

Have I read that average graph wrong then, it has the futabas fasst tx's as lower latency's than the DX7?
apart from the 6ex, but then thats in comp with the DX6, and futaba is faster again?

have not read the whole thread mind you, just the latency graphs?

regardless, model match was what truely turned my head to be honest.
Its nice having that extra bit safety. One less thing to worry about.
Just looked at that thread and that wasnt the one i was talking about anyways.
Ill post as soon as i find it though. On that thread the spektrum dx7 and ar7000 had a better average latency than the mid range 2.4ghz futaba stuff. Only the Top range 12 and 14 mz beat it as i would have expected.
On the average graph the lower the bar the lower the latency.

Nope you read it correct - the FF7 has a very slightly faster average stick-to-servo response time than the DX7:

                          Futaba T7C 2.4 |R617FS - 26.4ms
                          Spektrum DX7 |AR7000 - 27.5ms

Interestingly, their 6 channel sets are also very similar to each other:

                          Futaba T6EX |R606FS - 34.25ms
                          Spektrum DX6i |AR7000 - 35.74ms

But yet again the Futaba wins out. Not sure how people are thinking that Spektrum is faster, they're near as damn-it the same and as I say which you get is a matter of personal preference.

At least i dont have to relearn a radios menus and have got all the Rx's in now and all set up to my original settings on the 35mhz one ...Have noticed an improvement from stick input to servo movement .. Pity the weather aint that good at the minute for me to fly lol .... Next my planks are off 2.4GHZ Only 3 to go and thats my fleet converted lol ... I dont like nicking things off models for others to run lol

Who is your LHS? Please give praise where it is due so that others may profit from your good fortune.

I have to add this as a side note: Did your LHS only give you a good deal if you didn't tell anyone what is was? lol.

Oh ok lol .... Its called Grimsby Model Centre , little place that i been using for a good while.. The owner is also the person that i fly with at my local club ...Added to the fact I spend way too much money in there as well lol ... Upside with the owner is he can match net prices on stuff he has which is cool for me
