Mode 1 to Mode 2 conversion?????

Hi all

Was wondering if it was possible to convert a mode 1 Tx and Rx combo to a mode 2???

These would be brand new components?

Does anyone fly mode 1 and are there any disadvantages to it??

I fly mode one but there aren’t many of us about. The main advantage of flying mode two is that all your cyclic control is on the one stick. Aparently mode two is easier for pirouetting maneuvers but with practice it’s not a problem. Are you flying mode one at the moment?

NO I'm flying mode 2 but have my eyes on a Tx and Rx combo which is quite cheap but its mode 1!!

Will be looking into going into scale flying I think as apposed to full 3d stuff so would it matter is the question??

I wouldnt change over if you are already flying model 2. what TX is it?

a dx6, could it not be converted to a mode 2???

When I asked at Midlands before buying my dx7 they only had mode two versions in stock and said it would have to be returned to the distributor to convert it over to mode one. So if the dx6 is like the 7 then its probably not that straight forward but you should be able to send it away to have it converted to mode two.

Ok thanks for that from teh sounds of it it wouldn't be too bad flying it for scale models and stuff!!!!

I have done abit of googling and have found that it could theoretically be possible to do so I think i might try and find a cheapo one and give it a whirl!!!

most txs its a menu item to change mode, plus swapping the friction and spring over.

On spectrum it is not user changable. it would incolve fiddleing aobut disconecting the stick wires and swapping them about.

A guy in our club bought a DX7 and then sold it because it was mode 2 and he flies (planks) mode 1 - and ordered a mode 1 set and had to wait a while.

Learned mode 1 back in the eighties flying planks and never changed.

I totally agree with your comments about the cyclic on one stick making certain manouvres easier but like you I can manage.

Yep is quite easy - just done one myself

just transfer over the ratchet and lever/spring, solder a wire on the circuit board (need good eyes and small iron) momentary short out two pins to reset it and you end up with a mode change option on the menu.

Fly with whatever mode ya feel comfy with ... Me i fly mode 2 but i can fly mode 1,2,3 and 4 if i choose to lol ....mode 1 is better for planks but mode 2 for heli's .... At the end of the day its upto you. Changing spekkies over modes is a little more complicated than futabas and i dont think doing it to futabas voids the warranty either ...
