Rx for Blade 400

Have purchased a Blade 400 but without receiver. The standard spec rx is, of course, the Spectrum AR6100E.

First question is that are there variants of the 6100 because sometimes it is listed withouth the 'E'?

Secondly I am planning to get a DX7 to go with this model so, and particularly in view of the fact that I have an interest in scale, would it be better to get an AR7000? Being 7 channel it will offer better options for additional features such as retracts. I understand scale bodies are very likely to be produced for the 400.

There are two versions, the 6100 which has the servo connectors pointing upwards and the 6100E which has the servo connectors on the end, the 6100E is probably the best bet.

If you are intending to fit a scale body then you would need 7 channels for retracts so the AR7000 would be needed.

Not sure adjustment is the word, more around finding space! The AR7000 is quite a bit bigger plus it has to have it's satellite receiver connected as well. I have seen an AR7000 fitted to a Trex 450 so it should be possible with the Blade 400 but I've not seen it done yet.

I have fitted a 7000 spektrum RX into my Twister 3D storm and it is a perfect fit in the bottom of the heli .. the main frame of these are very similar so i would imagine youll be fine with the AR7000

I have a AR7000 fitted into a twister 3d storm and it is basically the same main frame as the blade 400..it sits in the bottom perfectly so you should have no problem

Hi, I've got the Twister Storm which is pretty close to the same heli. I've fitted my AR7000 recevier in the reciever bay under the heli and the remote receiver on the left side frame just in front of the main gear.

This seems to work well and it all fits quite tidy.

Many thanks, Kev. The 400 has just arrived so I have a better idea of space in that bay and, thanks to your comments, will probably get the 7000.

The AR7000 dimensions are: 24 x 17 x 47mm, External Antenna: 27x6x18mm
Rx bay in the 400D 29x18x55mm so it should fit nicely. There is a side plug about half way along but there seems to be about 5mm spare space on the side so that should squeeze in OK.

The remote receiver should be able to sit on the outside adjacent to the main receiver but infront of the main gear, as kevpe has done with his Twister Storm. So from all of those angles the 7000 would appear to fit.

I think I read somewhere that you have to ensure the 6100 aerials (the original RX) have to be 'straignt out' and presumably the 7000 aerials are much the same.

the 7000 RX fits perfectly into my twister storm 3D which is basically the same frame so i cant think of a reason why it shouldnt fit and my side reciever is fixed onto the side at the back of the main frame where your boom slots into place
