I think Helijive has Bailout as the main difference I think.

Bail out was one of the main differences, there are also other throttle modes that allow really low head speed and emulating a gasser throttle from memory.

I've got a Jive on my 550 but Helijives on my Rave and X7. The programming is slightly different between the Jive and the HeliJive but so far I've had no issues with any of them, so you pays your money and takes your choice really.

helijive is a refined powerjive, has ability to use external gov, bailout mode, also has a special mode to run low throttle below 50%, if buying new defiantly go with the helijive but check its latest version think its 13 currently, either one will be a great ESC though

The gasser throttle you refer to is actually a poor translation at being able to run non governor mode and using your throttle curves. Mode 2 allows you to run on your throttle curve (no gov) Mode 3 enables you to run low rpm with no govbelow the transition point (default 50%) and above the transition point with gov enabled. The auto bailout is also a feature on the helijive. Lipo mode is preprogrammed in. There is a mode which allows higher KV motors to run low rpms too. Can also run external gov's such as Vbar etc
Dont think Ive missed anything other than the helijive is specifically for heli's whereas the Jives can be run with planks etc too!!

edit* To add to Kyle's post if you receive an older version Jive you can send it to Kontronik for free update as long as you include your receipt. Me, I still use Powerjives and do not have one HJ

ive heard powerjives are more reliable than helijives thats why I opted for a powerjive on the 7hv

              Helijive v power jive

Thanks guys, I think a jive will suffice as the bailout feature isn't a deal breaker as by the time I realise I need to bailout ...... It's normally too late lol

Right anyone got one they want to pass on ? ;-)

Really old thread I know, but does the powerjive support external governor of it's set to airplane mode for example? I've read doing this can cause damage to the esc, but not found any evidence online. I don't need to run external governor and the Kontronik gov is superb, I just prefer the fbl to handle everything so it can forward feed power etc.

Since I have always used the internal gov in the Jives, I never paid too much attention to any alternatives, but I do remember a thread on HF where someone was saying it is not recommended to use airplane mode in this instance, so essentially the bottom line was that the powerjive pretty much had to use its own governor.

I would ask Kontronik for a definitive answer.
