  • Ferrite Rings on PowerJive HV

Do we still need them on the current 2.4 tech? It would make my life a lot easier (re)wiring up this model if I could ditch these clunky, annoying things.

Another a slightly related note, is it safe to run one of the antenna wires about 1" away from the main body of the ESC?

    Cheers!
    Harry

    Hello Harry
I think the consensus is to leave them on...

Last time this subject came up the answer was yes they are still recommended. However, it has been reported that they have been omitted in some cases without any consequences. I still use them on all of mine and I place the ferrite rings quite close to the ESC so most of the wire is still easy to thread around the heli as needed.

Not sure on the antenna wires but I would instinctively try to have them as far from things like an ESC or motor as possible.

Except for the last inch or so the antenna wire is shielded, so you can run it wherever you like.

Thanks all. I'll leave them on. The main problem really, is that the cables from the ESC are unnecessarily long, but I don't want to swap them as I don't have any other cables rated for 5A to spare. I'll take a photo once I've got it all up and see what you all think about the antenna placement.

I hate having lots of cables running the length of the model as I dislike running them past main gears and things. The Rush doesn't have the best example of cable management options. All the equipment (OptiGuard, FBL, JLog, ESC, Servos) are up front so if I place the Rx to rear, I've got to run four servo cables the length of the model. I've already got elevator and rudder servos, as well as the OptiGuard LED cables doing that...
