A quick question. I am fitting a Hobbywing Platinum Pro V3 into one of my Trex 550 Dominators. Does this ESC need the cooling fan fitting or can it be put to one side and not used? Never had an ESC with a fan on before so keen to hear what your thoughts are....

In the UK it's wise to fit a heater to your ESC to stop siberian shutdowns...T- rex 600n V-bar

Hi
This is a great esc I have one on my 380 (provably overkill) I guess it depends on your flying level. The stock align motor is actually rated to 115amps continous max current so the fan maybe an advantage to help. Also it depends on the throttle percentage you ate7 using as I don't believe this esc had active freewheeling so if you are only using it at 60% throttle there could be a lot of heat build up in the esc which the fan will help with. If you have room (and can be bothered) you could fit the fan to the esc and the put a cheap switch in line so you can turn it on or off as required

I have this on my 550L, it's a great ESC. I had the same debate about the fan and ended up installing it - have left it on ever since, uses hardly any power and the noise reminds you everything is connected. No real negatives to having it really.Oxy 3 285, Trex 550X, Goblin 700C, Spirit & BD FBL, Jlog, DX9...
