  • Mini Titan, GP750 problem

    Hi,

After lots of abuse (I learnt on this heli) the gyro developed a dodgy wire so would sometime work and sometime wouldn't so I replaced the gyro and servo with the Align GP750 Head Lock Gyro and DS520 servo.

My problem is that I can't get it working properly the tail now so sluggish. I have checked for binding, I have checked I have the setting correct i.e. right servo phase, the delay set to "red" and I can't get the tail to look after it self properly.

On the ground everything looks okay, the servo moves in accordance with the transmitter and the heading hold. However when you get it into a hover and then do a full climb out the heli pirouttes. Equally if I increase the gain to 100% I still can't make it work.

What have I missed? Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Mike

    What tx are you using?

Spectrum DX7 SE - yes, I was experimenting. The logic being to try and get a reaction, by it not going haywire I knew something is/was wrong.

Get it to about 45% as a starting point.

You adjusting the gain on the Travel Adjust menu?
        x 3

Yes using the Travel Adjustment, started at 40% and kept going...

            Hi

Make sure you have the DX7's gain software switched off as this is a pain to use.
Check you have full lock to lock tail pitch slider travel with out it actually stalling the servo, the servo travel is set from the gyro!
if you head speed is very low it's possibly your just running out of tail power.
Finally make sure the tail pulleys aren't slipping, best thing is to hold the tail rotor in one hand and gently try to turn the rotor head with the other hand, if you can turn it more then the slack in the drive and belt then you might have a problem with a pulley slipping on a shaft which will give you some tail drive but slip under increased load.

            Cheers
            Bob

Just to make sure I am not going mad (read: ready for humilation) remind of this.

              yes done that.

I have a high head speed - using Outrage and Scorpion motor.

Just checked this and it seem like there isn't much slack. All I can feel is the belt stretching as you hold the tail and rotate the head.
