  • Thoughts on the Outrage BL 9088 ?

Just curious if anyone is using this tail servo and / or what the consensus is about it, good or bad.

The specs look good but I have not paid any attention to the Outrage servos.

I'm just looking to go HV all round and previously have only used low voltage tail servos.

I used the 9188 for two years in all mine and never once had a problem running them at 8v . I would imagine the 9088 would be much the same. Great servos if you ask me !

Had 2 of them for a couple of years with no problems I have also seen them used by other pilots as well I think there may have been a lack of torque issue once...cant say I noticed any difference with the MKS bls 980 they took the place of though but they do look nicer....

If I was going to pay that sort of money for a servo I'd want to compare the feel of the futaba alternative - at least all the better quality futaba servos i've had have always felt really really smooth....

Yeah, for whatever reason I have ended up being more Futaba than anything else. When it comes to tail servos though, it has just been a matter of either it works or it doesn't as I'm not super picky on the feel of the tail, I don't like it too aggressive (which is usually just a gain thing) but I want solid hold all the time. The most amazing tail servo I have ever used is actually a 450 size, the MKS DS95, just stunning (and I was using it with a GY401! ) and it's literally capable of too much hold if you crank the gain up. I was able to bring the gain on the 401 up to 100 without a wag!

Anyway this is going on an airframe that's a bit expensive so I just want a super reliable servo that can run on a 2s Lipo or LiFe pack (worst case the HV thing isn't such a big deal but I'm just trying to keep it as simple as possible).

            And the DS95 isn't even a tail servo - it's a swash servo.

The DS95i would probably be even better...

Yeah I bought it when Andy from Phoenixtech first got some and I think I paid about £35.00 which I thought was a lot for that size servo at the time. I put it on a Trex 450SE and I thought the tail was pretty good already but I was literally shocked at the difference that servo made.

I;ve met folk running align 620's/650's on HV, certainly wouldn't be a problem on life if oen wants to save pennies....
