I recently bought an MKS DS95 servo from Phoenixtech to try on the tail of one of my 450s.
I just got a chance to try it today and I am very impressed. I must admit I am surprised at the difference the speed of this servo makes because the Acerlab is a respectable speed already. The MKS just feels super 'locked-in' and responsive.
Until now I have been using an Acerlab D12-MG on the tail and it has actually been fine and up to the task so far. But the MKS is on another level.
Without changing anything else on the heli I was able to run approx 20% more gain and still so sign of wagging! (at this point it was nearly at max gain using the gyro menu in the DX7 and solid as a rock).
With the Acerlab servo a pronounced wag would begin at a value of 81. I was running the MKS up to 99 and still no wagging (keep in mind that in the DX7 in the gyro menu the gain runs from 0 to 100 with 50-100 being HH, 50-0 for rate mode).
The current setup is;
Trex 450 SEV2, GY401 gyro, servo ball link centre at 7.5 mm from the centre of the shaft. KBDD tail blades, Align 325F and 3D pro mains, KBDD paddles. Stock Align 430X motor and Align ESC.
Maneuvers included aileron rolls, hovering and FF flight both upright and inverted, flips and loops, stall turns etc. So nothing too crazy
Speed figures by comparison are;
Acerlab D12-MG - 0.083sec @ 6.0V, 0.10sec @ 4.8V
torque 1.8kg/cm at 6 volts
MKS DS95 - Operating Speed (4.8V): 0.066 sec/60° degrees at no load
• Operating Speed (6.0V): 0.053 sec/60° degrees at no load
• Stall Torque (4.8V): 2.44 kg-cm (33.9oz/in)
• Stall Torque (6.0V): 3.05 kg-cm (42.3oz/in)
