  • Align ds610 gone bad?

Today when plugging in my flight pack on Trex 550 one cyclic servo would go right down to the bottom of its travel before returning to the correct position. After this would function fine.

This Eve pulled the servo wire out of beast x then put back and switched on again now no problem everything appears normal.

Has anyone else had this? Is it likely the servo is on the way out or just a bad connection? If it is going should I replace it or all 3 cyclic servos?

    Cheers Dan

I used to design digital electronics and faults can be very difficult. There are many possible causes. I wouldn't use that servo unless you like repairing 550s. Just replace it. Servos need to be replaced eventually anyway. It could be a loose connection that is only just touching, a voltage problem, a temperature problem or wear or dirt on the pot. That's like a volume control that is turned by the output shaft and tells the servo electronics where the output shaft is pointing. The servo needs to be taken apart and checked. If you can see a problem and fix it you may have found the real problem. The only way to be sure is to reproduce the fault and then cure it, or wait for it to to die. Problems rarely go away I'm afraid, not for long anyway.

Or, it could be a beastx problem as the beastx does generate drive signals. Connecting the battery will generate a spark that could be confusing the beastx switch on reset.

Having a beastx makes it much more difficult. Especially if you've cured the fault by unplugging and reconnecting. Perhaps wiggling the connector might show a bad crimp or a bad joint in the beastx.

I had a servo that randomly went to full deflection on its own. It caused boom strikes. It was due to a broken wire caused by vibration and faulty servo assembly. If you can reproduce the fault you could change the servo and see if the fault goes, if it doesn't it's in the beastx.

I've seen this before but I can't remember what the solution was. I'll phone the guy who had the problem tomorrow and post back later.

Can't seem to recreate it at all...

          Will rebind just in case.

Planning to swap the servo out. Is it ok to swap a single servo or should all 3 be changed at same time to keep em the same age?

                Align ds610 gone bad?

rebound after original set up and model has been flying fine for months.

Only thing different to normal was that I left the Heli In the car overnight and was pretty cold. Doubt that what cause this kind of prob though.

The rebind is a good idea though will do it today.

if in any doubt though then replace the servo, weigh up the costs... price of a servo or price of rebuilding your heli if it fails in mid flight?. Better be safe than sorry

                    Align ds610 gone bad?

Definitely, my only question is it ok to just swap the one cyclic servo or is it wiser to swap all three regardless, even though the other two are fine?

If there is no slop then just the faulty one will do IMO
