  • Align BL815H servo failures

    Evening all,

    Long time lurker, infrequent poster!

Has anyone had problems with BL815H servos failing?

I was looking at buying some but I've heard on the rumour mill that there have been some failures and would like to get a true idea of the scale of the problem before I hit the buy button.

I've seen the helifreak post saying that they are dangerous, Align need to have better QC etc, etc but that is the only thing I can see on the issue.

Is this a percentage thing i.e there are so many of the servos "out there" the problem appears to be widespread but it's actually a relatively small failure rate?

    Thanks,

    Mark

I've read the same thread on Helifreak, and a set of faulty ones on ebay sold by this guy: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkx...f3pUNr7Vhstx-w

The ones on Heilfreak were apparently caused by a faulty GPro, if you read the description in his Youtube video on the subject. Could be the same for the ones I saw on Ebay, but I'm not sure.

They're also totally silent while stationary. This means they don't buzz or make any sound when you encounter some kind of binding.

Given that they've been sold with the 550L and 700L for a good while now, I'd expect to see more than that if there was an inherent problem with them. I bought my set at Christmas, before I read of any problems. I'm not frightened to use them (though I haven't flown them yet, but that's mostly the weather's fault), but I will keep an eye on them and thoroughly check them before take off. That should also be true of any servos you use.

Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

You know, I never even gave the Gpro as a possible contributing cause a second thought but re-reading the post, in that chaps case, it seems that it cannot be ruled out.

I suspect I'm worrying about nothing but when I'm spending £90 a servo I just want to be sure that I'm doing the right thing.

As there have been nearly 100 views and one reply I think I've got my answer.

      Cheers bigpops,

I cant comment on the 815 but run 3 sets of 800/850 and they perform flawlessly.
