  • Servo problems

    Hi all

I'm running 615s and a 655 on my 600n dfc. Which I've been flying 1/2 a gallon on most weekends since last September.

Early on I had problem with the 655 where it didnt initialise and wouldn't respond until I have it a nudge after which it would work fine. I assumed there was a dud spot on the potentiometer that meant it didnt know where it was. I replaced the whole servo and all is now good.

However this weekend I noticed the elevator to be doing the same thing.

Is this a wear and tear thing. Or a known thing with align servos. Would I be better served by replacing them all with some thing else. Or have I just had bad luck with these two servos?

Is it even possible/sensible to clean the pot?

    Any thoughts gratefully recieved

    Shep.

Align servos are usually very good Iv never had the new ones , I had the ds 610 and 650 and they never died on me they are really good servos for the money. Could it be a fbl unit problem have you got any other servo you could try

It's only intermittent so i don't think its the beastx. I'll do a thorough check of the wiring later but I think it's all good. Most likely is the pots worn out around the centre which would be logical. Just wondering of any other servo type would be better.

Could it possibly be due to low faultage or in need of re binding maybe?

I've had problems with smaller servos (450 size) that needed a nudge. When I took them apart I found that the motor was at fault. It wouldn't work in some positions, possibly due to one blown winding. Servos do seem to wear out on helis, they have a hard life, especially on the swash with large shock loads.
