  • DS615 gears replaced but still notchy?!

Iv replaced two new whole gearsets for the two ds615s which got striped when my 550 threw a wobbler, they are all in the correct order and I put grease on them to lube them properly. They are now very notchy and seem to click at certain points. Iv had the gears in out of the servos about a dozen times and its still happening. Any ideas?

    thanks

Did you make sure you got all the broken teeth out when you did the replacement?, Also don't do the screws up too tight as that will make then feel notchy.

DS615 gears replaced but still notchy?!

Ronnie had this the other week on his 550DFC,
It turned out the gears were ok but one of the little spindles was bent causing the mesh on the gears to tighten & loosen as they turned.

TBH I never saw any broken off teeth in the servo, but will double check, I did notice the tighter the screws are the more notchy it felt. Bit frustrated with it having bought new gears but will have a look at it again.

Take an old toothbrush and clean each gear and also the internal area where the gears sit inside the servo, there is a chance that although there was no teeth inside the gear train there could be metal paticals from wear and tear of the gears and this may be causing the problem.

Clean with an old toothbrush and then reinstall the gears using some servo grease - Fast Lad Performance

            Hope this helps,
            Thanks!

The last set I had did! And I think the ones we have in stock have the pins. PM me if you want me to check a new pack?
