  • how to change rudder stick input

im currently flying with an AVCS gyro

everything has been setup like it has to be: ATV at both sides in the transmitter set at 100% and linkage limit of the servo I did set on the gyro

this way the gyro works great and linkage limit at the tailblades is left and right correct , no overload

    >> however now i did notice when my rudder stick is only half way i do reach the outer limit of the tailblades

there is a gap the second half of the rudder input, second half of stick input does not effect the tailblades because they are already at the end

HOW TO CHANGE THIS? maybe i do have to work this out with AFR at the transmitter?

    no clue yet

When in Heading hold mode the small input on the stick the blades start to move in the direction, the gyro senses no movement so tries to compensate by adding more movement at the blades till it hits the limit you've set.
in normal mode the travel would be proportional to the stick input.

As Paul said, this is normal when you're watching the rudder movement on the ground, once the heli is in the air it will always be making corrections to hold its position and any stick movements should be quite perportionate in response.

The rudder ATVs will now control the overall rate the tail will move, so if your pirouette rate is too slow you can up them a bit or if it's already too fast you can bring them down until the tail responds the way you like. You want to have enough speed available to move the tail quickly when you need it but not so fast that you end up always moving it more than you want.

I also usually use about 15 to 18% expo on the rudder to keep from accidentally moving the tail around when I don't want to.

tx this totally clears up the working with avcs for me

            follow up:

can also set the gyro at cmt so i also can use the normal mode
however im questioning myself why should i do that? currently iv set AVCS mode only

i cant see no more reason for going back to normal gyro mode, right?

I always fly in heading hold. I have used rate mode sometimes to setup certain gyros but then always flew with them in HH mode after that, I don't know any good reason you'd want to fly in normal / rate mode.

I can't fly in normal (rate) mode. I have tried it twice and I have crashed twice.

This is a very sensible topic for you. A bit too ordinary?
