Wasn't there a post recently about those Outrage Torq servos, which showed that although the spec states they have Helical gears, they don't actually?

Seriously?? I know it is probably just the last two ones from the output gear. I couldn't find a bad thing about them looking around, it seems that they are made by MKS but a few have said the electronics are different and the helical gears are much better, as in quieter and have less slop (should also be stronger too).Originally posted by jamiem View PostWasn't there a post recently about those Outrage Torq servos, which showed that although the spec states they have Helical gears, they don't actually?
I will take a look now.
Edit:
Check out the replacement gears?? http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/outr...g-p-15609.html
Edit 2:
Oh, apparently it is just the 1st two gears which are helical cut, can't really see it...

>> Torq servos with helical gearing
I think the 9180 is a ripoff, as it's advertised for helical gears but had straight gears when I broke them.
The gears are BTW quite difficult to find nowadays, which is really annoying. I'd think twice about them.
They are expensive and not very fast (got them in one X7). Power efficient, yes, but that doesn't score any extra points.
The other X7 just did its first flights today with the Align HV servos, they seem to work well. They are fast.Woohoohoohoohoohoohoohoohoohoohoo -Barbra Streisand

Ive fitted my Futaba BLS351's and BLS251 back in my 700 this week. I did a trim flight last night and the tail was miles better! The difference is like night and day. I'm test flying my 700 properly this afternoon and will report back.
