Futaba GY520 gyro

Hi,
I bought a second hand GY520 for my 450, I have basically got it set up now, however when I first power up the gyro lights up, but the tail servo does not do anything. If I then disconect and reconect the tail servo, the servo starts working. Any ideas please on what's going on, have I missed something in the setup?

Yep set it tp 1520, it works fine when servo unplugged- replugged power on.

No the servo does not move(does not have power me thinks) until I unplug -replug the tail servo whilst recievr is still powered up, then it works fine.

Have you another servo you could try.

Hi,
Found a Futaba digital servo to try and it works fine, searched online and found this about the gy520 and the Turnigy ds480.

"This servo does not work with the Futaba GY520 gyro.

When first turned on, as part of its initialisation the GY520 attempts to move the servo to the left and then the right limit. The DS480 servo interprets this as a bad signal and stops responding.

The only way to get this servo to work, is to unplug it and then plug it back in after the gyro has initialised.

There should be a warning about this incompatibility in the product description."


So I have a new question what servo should I buy to match this gyro?

I would buy a futaba 9257 and i have never had a problem with this gyro or that servo. they are great.

Align ds 520 works great on a 450.
