  • MAXWELL Servos ?

Are they any good? I am thinking of getting this, but worry about them servos. Can't find much on here about them, nor google:

    1.Hurricane EP550 CF Pro Kit
    2.Gaui Brushless Motor kv1100
    3.Speed Control 75A ESC
    4.Gaui External BEC
    5.500MM Carbon Fiber Blades
    6.AP1000mAh BEC 7.4v Receiver Battery
    7.MAXWELL MX821MG High Torque Servo
    8.MAXWELL MX821MG High Torque Servo
    9.MAXWELL MX821MG High Torque Servo
    10.Futaba Digital Rudder Servo S9254
    11.Futaba Head lock Gyro GY401
    12.APLUS 11.1v XP2200mAh 25C Lipo Pack
    13.APLUS 11.1v XP2200mAh 25C Lipo Pack

    14.Bonus : Y - Series Connector

The items in red, I am unsure of... their quality, that is. I think the APLUS's will be tossed, but the servos? The guy is going to knock off $49 if I drop them from the package...

Stick with Futaba/Hitec? Or does someone here use them, and think they're OK for gentle flight/learning?

I assume this is coming from Flying Hobby

The Maxwell servos in that list are the ones that come with my first 600E and they are not bad but on my second purchase from him i omitted them as i would prefer a better brand.

One of the Maxwells failed to work after a light crash but the other two are still OK,i got them in January..

I got an Aplus 4500mah 6s lipo with my 600 and its now on 40 cycles and doing well,it balances OK but does not have the power of a TT or Revo..

I got a 450s for the other half and the Maxwell servos in that are fine but the Aplus 1800mah 3s Lipo puffed pretty quick

    So my experiences are mixed

The MX821`s are quite fast and accurate

      Thanks Chris...
OK, so they're not too bad... it seems.
I'll use the batteries until I notice they don't seem right (For example, explode, or catch fire during flight).
      Thanks for the advice there.

For the sake of 49 usd i would use them, the Lipos are probably as hit or miss as an Align one,,Flying Hobby are very good,i have purchased 2 600E`s and a 450`s from him along with other bits n bobs and he is fantastic...

If going with those servos I'd get him to include an extra servo as spare.
Remember on a ccpm setup all three servos must be identical.

I found cheap servos effected the performance of my 35mhz radio in the same way as a noisy escBEC can. swapping from rc expert cheap servos to hitec hs65 increased the antenna down range a fair bit. 2.4Ghz should not suffer that though.

            Thanks guys.
As the whole package (delivered) is going to be R5,200... (372 GBP), I'll fly for a month or two on the Maxwells, and then buy 3 Hitecs (Not sure which ones would suite...) and I think that may save me a world of pain and worry.

I'm extatic at the number of people who have said that their flying ahs impoved by using a Hurricane due to it's size, compared to the 450. I think tghis is going to be the key to my nose in!!

              Hi Craig

I'm using my Twister Bell 47 for nose in training.

Its so strong and cheap to repair that I'm setting my winter project of flying nose in by spring.

Mind you, I'm not telling you which year that spring is in

It was this Heli that sorted out my side on.

              Cheers

The hitec servos for this hgeli would be HS81MG probably. Mini rather than micro. £16 each at UK prices.

                    I presume you read this:
                    http://www.trextuning.com/ep550.php
It looks like on this heli the servos are std size and not mini, so the servos are rthe same size as on your raptor I think.

The smaller 425 blade length helis are usually using mini servos.
We wait and see for the trex500!

                      Thanks Chris.
I actually watched the FInless Bob videos and he was showing that the Futaba and Hitec normal servos fitted like a charm. The rest were not 'like a glove' fits.

                        Hi,

I got the pakage from Fung which comes with the Maxwell servos. I have had many flights with the servos and they are still going strong. I have replaced the servo horns with Futaba's servo horn instead.

I have also replaced the tail's with 9254 for faster speed.
