Align gov stopped picking magnet up ! any common problems?

Been out today and on the second flight was getting major overspeeding in quick descents ! never had a problem before with this gov and have checked all connections and wires but cant see anything obvious,ive just checked the light on the gov to find it wont go out when the magnet passes using starter wand to turn the fan! anything else i could do to test the unit?

As Tony said, sounds like the sensor has failed. It does happen with them from time to time, and not only with the Align ones

Been doing a bit of reading up on using the spekky backplate sensor as apparently there are two versions available and one is a direct fitment to the align gov! has anyone got any experience of using these sensors?

I had this on my revlock. Tried different sensor, even changed the revlock itself and it still wouldn't detect the magnet. I remembered heat can kill them, so I looked closely and saw that the main bearing had gone in the engine, which was causing slop on the crank shaft. The whole assembly had dropped and had been rubbing against the sensor. The sensor was fine, but the magnet had lost its magnetism.

Long story short, try replacing the magnet lol.

Also check the magnet is still magnetic lol... had an align one loose its magnetism on me. Go figure? Obviously if this happens then the sensor wont pick it up at all.

Digging up an oldish topic. I had problems with getting an align sensor to fit on my raptor. The spektrum spma9569 back plate sensor is a direct fit and works fine. Might help someone in the future.
