hi
is there any way to verify if my gy401 is genuine gyro made by futaba?there is so many copies and i don't
want to get hurt or even worst crush my heli

check to see if the pins are gold (if its fake they'll be standard metal silver colour) open it up and see if there's a great big rusty nut in there lol. there's quite a few threads about with pics showing you how to see if you have a fake.

private and i got him from Polish newspaper add in london he was so sure that he left it for test
last week i crushed my blade400 and had no time to fix it so this guy will get me new 450 one tmrw

Benjomeen over at Heliguy forum posted a similar story a little while ago, his GY401 also had a big nut inside

I sold one a couple of months ago on eBay, which was genuine, and a potential buyer requested that I post a video of it in action as he was worried about fakes. He specifically asked that I set it up on the table with a servo and then quickly wiggle the rudder stick 3 times back and fore, and if it was genuine, then the servo would re-centre every time after the stick wiggle. It did, and he was happy.

I'd never heard of this, and he didn't win the auction, so he wasted my bleedin' time making the video and posting it on YouTube!

Just watch your back mate, he might not be too chuffed having nearly £400 profit taken off him. Maybe a call to local TS wouldn't be a bad thing?

no worries mate there is a few genuine Polish lad where i live so he'll hand them over and money for my blade with a smile and thank you for letting him walk out the door with no damage...

in a genuine 401 where that nut is is where futabas main SMM sensor chip is, in a fake 401 (which is infact a re-badged hobbyking one) it does not use the same technology as a real 401 but instead uses 2 vertical circuits boards, the nut is literally placed in there so it gives the fake gyro the weight of a real one!.
