Simple one (maybe), which is better, and what are the differences between the HS-65HB and the HS-82MG? I'm a beginner with a Trex 450. I know MG stands for Metal Gear, but thats all I've worked out!
HS-82MG are bigger servos and won't fit a standard 450. Otherwise you're spot on. MG is metal gear, HB is karbonite
You can buy a modified 450 sport frame that will allow you to fit HS-82s should you wish.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.
i use 65 HB's on the 400. they are all you need. as others have said they take a good knock. karbonite dos not wear over time unlike metal. they are much cheaper if you do ever need to replace the gears and in the event of a major crash, the gears will not split the servo case, which can happen with metal gears. i was asking the same questions as you 18 months ago and went for karbonite. i would do the same again
I use Karbonites as they were cheaper to get me flying and they been in 2 years and only just sheered a set of gears after a really hard landing. Also to replace all three servo gears is the same price as replacing one MG gear. Sames servo just different material on gears.
