  • Has anyone tried the new Futaba 9254 tail servo?

    Hi All,

I was just wondering if anyone has tried the new futaba 9254 tail servo yet and what they think of it?

I have Futaba GY502's on all my helis with 9450 servos which are 8kg at 0.10 sec. and was wondering if its worth considering upgrading them as the new one is almost twice the speed.

    Any comments?

    Cheers,

    Pete.

I've never tried one yet. Although I have sold a couple. One thing that does puzzle me though is that the torque given on the servo case says 3.4kg-cm. Whereas the torque listed on the gyro instructions says 4.8kg-cm (I think thats right. It's definitely different though). The speed is still specified as 0.06sec/60 degrees on both.

      Hi Phil,

Thanks for that, I was wondering as this is supposed to be the dogs kahoonas of all tail servos, if it is worth the cost in upgrading all 5 of my helis.

I am using 9450's on the tail at the moment which are a good servo and hold the tail quite well but they have a speed of 0.10sec which is almost half the speed of these new ones, so I guess Im just trying to find a way of justifying the cost

It would be my guess that a GY502 with one of these new 9254's would be almost as good and certianly half the price of a GY601 with its 9251 servo, which if I were to upgrade all 5 of my IC helis to would cost serious money 8O .

I am very keen to hear of anyone that has tried one, particularly with the GY502 gyro.

      Cheers,

      Pete.

Tell you in a couple of weeks, Phil has a few left if you want one spk to him.

I reckon I'll take one for my tail and move the S9253 to the throttle to match up with the GV-1.
          Cheers
