can't see any use for them myself due to the specs. their idea and our idea or torque are way off. i want 3x that.

will keep an eye on the tech anyway and see where it goes.

    cheers

Totally agree, but is the tech as good as they are saying?

servos are changing a little just now with trying to remove the failure points.

i always said brushless servos were more of a gimick purely because we still have potentiometers which wear out far quicker than the motors in my experience.

don't get me wrong-i like the idea of brushless motors in servos but other parts also need looked at-which now looks like HK and JR are looking at.

jr's new servos are brushless and are using hall effect sensing-

        cheers

Raptorheli2, it's great to see that JR etc are looking for better ways to do stuff. It does however seem crazy that know one has previously used linear hall effect sensing in servos considering that the technology is quite old now. Good, but old. For instance They have been using them in keyboards for decades.

It will be a cost thing, while pots were v.cheap and HE sensors are costly to implement the pot wins. Only once the HE option becomes cheap and/or they can pass on the cost to the customer will it come to be common and eventually replace pot based servo's
