Hitec HS65 Reliable?

    Whilst heli's are a rough environment for servos, if you have so much vibration that it is causing that kind of damage then you might want to take a look at getting rid of the vibration.

    An electric heli is a lot kinder to servos than a nitro one, so I would take a look at the source of the problem perhaps?

      I think you may be right

      My new HK450MT with the alleged crap £3 fibreglass blades from Giant Cod is really quiet compared to the Twister Storm. I'd like to know if anyone else found the Twister Storm or Blade 400 to have a lot of vibration, as they both share, a plastic fuselage. Of course it could be the usual hard landing and outright crashes that might be the cause while learning in the garden.

      Some servos are assembled very badly. The wires are suppposed to have support to stop them vibrating but the assemblers don't have enough time to do the job correctly. This results in a mass spring system with very little damping and even low vibration levels at the resonant frequency of the wire will cause large swings and the resultant fatigue failure.

      From what I've heard, servo failures in small helis are a problem.

      Perhaps someone can suggest a better made servo than the HS65HB or perhaps its my suppliers. I would have been happier if I could have contacted HITEC.

      I had a similar problem with an aerial incorrectly fitted in a Walkera TX for a small heli. Bought from Chinese Jade. He asked me to take a picture and sent me a new rx.

      I think I'll check out the servos from now on and add the flexible supports(blobs of glue)myself.

        Well! Lots n lots of flights on" with both 450pro & Mini Titan I have to say they have been as reliable as my old hs65's no probs at all & have since found out 65 & 5065 gears sets are the same, I had one resent crash with my MT due to one of the links unscrewed itself from the servo horn, link being to tight on ball so reemed out link & put locking nuts on the back of the horn.
        No damage to servo's but did do shaft & blades.
        Today's outlook is fine for flying.
