  • BLS 251 and 8900G

I'm looking for a new tail servo for my 700, decided that it will be either a Futaba BLS251 or a JR 8900G.

I have used JR in the past, so I think I am moving towards this one, but heard alot of good reports about the BLS251.

Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with either of these servos that are worth considering before I hand my cash over, or is it really all down to personal preference?

    Thanks

Both great servos. Either will do fine.

I prefer JR so went with the 8900G over the Futaba Brushless but they fly equally as well.

          Top pilots run both.

I have both and like both.

The BLS is brushless so that may be an advantage due to the longevity that will give over non Br.

JR have a new Brushless tail servo coming MP80G its more expensive though.

Like Sacko said the 8900g don't like 6V.

            They are both top notch

Had an 8900G go bad, JR said it was badly mounted & damaged the pot??? how can i damage it by putting it in the tail servo location??? I have a BLS 254 now & it's great. So i'd go with the BLS as i've also heard of other reports of 8900's going bad
Yes the big sigpic is coming back

                Used the 251, 8900 and 9256.

Could not tell a difference between any as they all great servos. Use 251, 254 and 9256 now.

Will a BLS 251 run on more than 4.8v then. I thought they were limited to 4.8v like the JR 8900G.

I've ordered a BLS 251, but it has occured to me that my BEC is (I think) set to output 5.6v, so I probably need to step that down for the 251. I have an Align step down, but I think that is designed to step down from 6v rather than 5.6v, so I'm not sure if I use that on 5.6v is the final voltage actually going to be too low for the 251?

Maybe it is not an issue and the 251 will be fine at 5.6v, but don't want to wreck a shiney new BLS servo so any thoughts appreciated.

                  Cheers

I personally have seen a bls running on 5.8v (from a 2 in 1) for hundreds of flights with no ill effect and its still going.

a fully charged nicad/nimh is over 5.6v when full.

                    You make the choice though.

Available now (just had mine delivered) and yes they are expensive but hey its only money

Took a BLS251 off the Vibe SG in order to fit the MP80G as I was having some issues getting the gain on my CSM720 within limits.
I will let you know the results in a week or so when I have fitted it and tested (away all weekend)
