  • Align GP780 Gyro

Hi guys, Ive heard lots of reports about the gp780 being rubbish and im starting to agree with them. Ive spent all weekend trying to set one up on my Trex 500 ESP Scale and im no better off. Ive had 2 gp750's and think they are superb and never had any problems with them.

Anyway rant over i cant seem to get it to stop drifting to the left. Ive gone from 55% upto 80% on the gain on my dx6i and adjusted the tail servo numerous times to compensate for the drift but it just doesnt seem to want to hold. Also the heli seems to have a waggle of the tail but not the sort of waggle you get with the gain being to high as it does it right through the gain range. Its like its kicking out but only a few inches and not all the time.

Just hoping some of you guys no of a quick fix for it before it goes in the bin and 750 goes in its place.

Any suggestions will be most welcome
    Scott

im using a 780 on my 450 & it was very easy to setup & holds like a brick in the air... plus only using 1 gyro pad..

had a similar problem on the 500 with a 750 gyro & upping the head speed sorted the problem out..

Think I'm just getting another gyro altogether because I want to just enjoy my heli and at this rate all I seem to be doing is faffing around adjusting etc..... and I feel that I have put all I want to into getting it sorted,I just have no more patience cos at the end of the day it's a hobby and I am not letting it stress me out anymore

              Cheers Grant.

                  +1.

                  I thought i had a major coup when i ordered a GP750 from a dealer on this site and received a GP780.

I starting to think who has had the last laugh

I totaly understand, yes I think there will be some setting up and fine tuning of gyros but when it leads to you spending possibly a few hours of flying time to sort it then its no good and espeically if it is still causing problems, like you say its a hobby.

                        Align GP780 Gyro

I had a bit of an issue to begin with but i switched from the gyro sens menu to use end points on my DX7 to control the gain; plus i increased the head speed which sorted out a slight wag. I'd recommend to run zero sub trim because the 780 seems to c it as a normal input as if u were giving it a rudder input on the sticks. My 780 now holds super good. Ohh and if ur still facing issues u might want to do a search on here cus there was a recent thread that had A LOT of good info on setting up the 780
