Zero Alpha Gov

Just clearing out my rc stuff and found a Zero Alpha Gov that I had forgot about.

So what is the point to a governor other than to give you a set head speed when you could do this with the idle up settings?

I am thinking of installing this to my V2 but as I have never used one I am not sure how hard it is to set up etc?.

The governor monitors the engine RPM constantly and tries to maintain it using the throttle servo, i.e. as the engine loads up it opens the throttle and as it overspeeds it closes the throttle. This is very difficult if not impossible with Idle up throttle curves.

Ok so when given more pitch in idle up you can hear the engines power drop with the increased drag, so with a gov this will try to allow for that by increasing engine power when the gov notices a drop in the rotor speed due to more drag when more pitch is applied?

to a certain extent, that if your headspeed drops due to over pitching, and engine at full chat, its still gonna bog.

Some people dont use governors, charlie cave for instance is a master at curves instead of using governors. give him a pm on here. for a second option.
