  • throttle servo and cyclic servos

Took my partially built 600 out with me today to hopefully pick up a few tips from my mate and he noticed that when going from low to high stick and vise versa fast that the throttle servo will lag behind the main servos a little in reaching the end points, is this a problem do you think.

At the moment ive set the throttle servo up perfect in that it doesnt need any travel adjust to reach its end points etc, now I can add a bigger servo wheel so the throttle is more or less in sync with the main servos but that means a pile of travel adjust so it doesnt bind.

Throttle servo is s3004 and main servos are s9351

You can adjust the speed of the servo response mechanically thus:

On the throttle, set the servo end points to about 50-60% ish and adjust the mechanical setup to suit (i.e. move the ball out further from the centre of the servo, also maybe in towards the throttle barrel on the carb). The servo will travel less angular distance (i.e. reach its end point faster).

With the CCPM servos, increase the endpoints just a bit (maybe 110-120%) and move the balls in a hole so that the servos have to travel further to get to their final destination = slower. Be careful with the CCPM servos tho, as they are also controlled by your swash mix, and you might be introducing other problems with the pitch and roll axes.

Just try adjusting the throttle setup first I would suggest - when you bang the collective stick from hover to full chat, you really want to see the throttle arm reach its full position a fraction of a second before the cyclics do.

Other option is splash a load of cash on a super fast throttle servo and a guv'nor.

Cheers for the responce steve, all makes sence and its a few tweaks but in short I shall try it and see what happens.
I did try the first option and it did land about the 50% mark and it was moving more or less in sync and as im not using a gov I can get away with using 50% on travel adjust.

      Thanks again.

With a cheap THR servo and setting say 50% the resolution will not be so good, so you might have problems with the motor cutting out at tick-over, eg. one time you throttle down and it runs quite fast then next time it stops,
So if your into Auto's then up your tick-over to as fast as you can get it without the clutch binding, to minimize the chance of it dropping out.

Well tbh im thinking of getting a new throttle servo any recomendations guys, I dont want to pay top dollar if I can help.

Edit: Im looking at one of these http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/futa...vo-p-4148.html, is there any others because if I have a small list of 2-3 theres more chance my LHS will have that particular model in stock.
