I have been buiding a heli for a friend of adieuk. I went to test fly last night but something wasn't right checked throttle before starting engine but it wasnt responding. I swapped servo to a different channel to check it but still no response.

hmm took out servo tonight to check heres what i found its a jr DS820g and could have caused a hell of a lot of damage.

Is it a FET that let go due to a seized or stalled motor? acrid burnt electronic smell

motor is free and has full range of movement. smells real bad too.

being new to the heli and the servo went in flight not sure what he could have done apart from just watch it burn or chicken dance to destruction

servo went to full throttle when you went to bottom stick and held there but was free to move by hand very strange. just glad it didnt go in flight. already fitted a new one

How old was that servo? Was there any cut in the servo wire?
I have servos which are quite old but never a single one failed on me. The burnt mark make me think there was a short circuit somewhere...was there?
