  • Align magnets on CSM Revlock

    Is this possible?

Currently installed is the Align gov with 2 magnets but I will end up putting the Revlock in it.

Do both magnets have to be removed with a new CSM magnet fitted?

Or can i get away with removing just the one magnet.

Just fitted an align magnet to a new clutch bell for use with a revlock. no problems but as the revlock will pick up both poles of a magnet then 2 wont work i doubt.

If it comes to it, I could probably get them out using the pillar drill, but it seem like a lot of hassle for my liking

Result, so just taking the one out will work.... Sorted!

Drill the magnet out, from the top.

Should be fine with the pillar drill

Unless you have it on an engine that runs at very low RPM and set the revlock at double the actual rpm you want.

You can use any neodymium magnets it will not be an issue but you will need to remove one.

Why do you need to remove one magnet?
Two magnets just give twice the revs
So set the Revloc at half of the normal speed
                          17500 / 2 = 8750rpm

A club mate has 6 magnets on the main gear
                          So his is 2100 x 6 = 12600rpm

wouldn't it need to be set to double the speed though as you'd see 2 pulses per revolution?

Only successful way I have found to remove magnets that have been epoxied in is to put the fan/clutch bell in the oven for 10 mins at about 200C. Obviously if it is a clutch bell we are talking about it would involve a change of liner and also the magnets once out as I think the heat would deactivate them?
