Hi Tom same as any Gyro system for 3D flying. As firm as possible without the Gyro getting vibration drift. Often a standard Futaba/Spartan Nitto tape without the plate is enough.
The reason for firm mounting is to prevent Rotor Vibration upsetting it in 3D flying.
My 720s are fixed to the metal plate with the thin double sided tape CSM provide (no give in that).
Then the plate is fixed to the heli using two thicknesses of the 2mm double sided foam tape (Ripmax F-MG092)
This gives a quite a rigid fixing but doesn't seem to drift, and doesn't seem to cause any bounce.
I arrived at this after advice from Edders.
It seems to be robust and long lasting - though at the rate I rebuild my helis longevity is hardly an issue!

Dont spend more flying models than it costs to fly for real
Well I still use the std CSM pads with mine, always have done.
I use a larger plate though to increase the footprint for mounting, which increases the firmness to the mounting but retains the good vibration resistance of the CSM pads.
The attached pic shows how I mounted them on my flybarless machine. I now use the same method on all my models were possible.
I have used zeal pad mounting stuff previously to good effect, on other gyros I have had.
I always used the system Moyesboy mentioned.. However, on the Vibe i have been having lots of trouble with drifting.. Was solved when i reverted to the CSM little square pads.. I always was dubious about them holding the gyro securely, but the gyro mount is CF and the little pads seem to stick very well to it (unlike on the plastic gyro mount of the 600) (yeah and i am trying to find a piece of wood to touch)!
Finally maidened the Fury tonight Tom, the 720 was rock solid from the outset. I'm runninga spartan pad between gyro and metal plate then a thicker pad to the heli.
