  • Anyone know what Robbe Helicommand actually does?

Hi Guys...have been away for a while!

Can anyone tell me what the Robbe Helicommand actually does...I understand it has 3 gyros and is some sort of stabilisation device...but I need a plain english "what it would do for me?"
The older I get, the faster I was!

    Just Learning!
    TREX 450SE
    Old Hirobo Shuttle
Twister CP (wont bother with that any longer)
Will be a Blitz Avro when I can fly safely

Are you saying that it makes the heli really easy to fly?

The point of these swashplate gyros is to make the heli stable without a flybar. currently they belong in scale helis I think where peole want to eliminate the flybar for eisthetic reasons.
The sytem I rwad about on runryder was adding up to about $1500 on top of the cost of the completely ready to fly heli!
however it is possible that there will be a system for flying 3D with a flybarless head. keep an eye on CSM who have an interesting system on the go.
The little box they have for doing the ccpm mix is interesting enough - eliminates the latancy that is supposed to hamper futaba (the 6th channel which is one of the front swash ones, gets it signal after the other two - whereas JR put the ccpm on ch 1,2 and 3) and lets you limit the combination of elev and aileron on the swash (virtual cyclic ring). They then combine that with two extra SL720's.

yep you learn to 'fly' with one and whensomeone says your really good at flying and you have no choice but to reply "sorry I can't fly without my onboard computer doing all the work".

So it teaches you nothing at all!

I am affraid I have the same opinion as basher on this....for what they cost you could by some decent servo's etc etc etc.

if ppl want something easy to fly and resembles a chopper then for a tiny fraction of the price buy a picco z.

Sorry guys this is a sore subject with me. So I will stop before I go into rant overdrive

Ok I geddit thanks....its the easy way out....they ought to market it on the basis...."going to quit the hobby cos you cant do it....maybe try this?" Or get some lessons with the money!

I am sure it does have its place and I can see the argument that if it makes it really easy and thats all you want then it doesnt hurt anyone.

My JR 9x2 puts the CCPM on Channels 2,3 and 6, not 1,2 and 3.

what if you used a helicommand whilst you were learning to fly left, right and towards you and when you got used to the stick control took it off, would that not help??if you didnt use it for too long?

Far better to use a sim and keep the stick and balls on the heli until ready to move to the next stage.
                            Cheers

hi i feel a bit out numbered here as i have owned a heli commandto try to keep it "in simple english"the heli comm set up on full ish gain will hover the heli over the spot by detecting any movement i.e if the heli moves forward the unit will put in a back command to rectify it and yes you can put it in a hover go for a cup of tea come back and your heli is still hovering there.the idea ,when it becomes a training aid ,is that as you become more experienced you reduce the gain giving you more control until you are flying soloyou can also switch the unit off ,then if you get in trouble switch it back on and so long as your not to low or out of shape in a bad way it will save your heli
