  • JR tail servo mystery.

I have a weired JR servo gear question.
I have a JR tail servo that came with some assorted heli parts. It is a "super servo" not a standard or digital one. Can tell this by the high pitched whine from the servo. Just like my JR8300 servo.
However, it came with nylon gears and a a replaced servo top with a JR DS811 label.
It is a quality servo as the case has gooves for the silicon rubber dust seal between the sections (if you know what I mean). And it is the newer style servo case as in 8700, 8231, 8411 etc not the older 4231 type. It also has a coreless motor. This seems to rule out the 810G or 820G servos.
From all of this I determine it is a 8700G servo fitted with (cheaper) nylon gears from an 811 type servo. It works fine, and is pretty fast. I've no other tail servo to compare it with but is about twice as fast as my 8231 servos.
SO.... anyone know if there is a difference between the gearing on 811 nylon gears and the metal 8700G set (except from the first nylon gear after the servo motor and the pinion gear fitted on the motor itself)??
Is there any disadvantage to nylon gears when using this servo on a 30 size heli (JR Ergo) for learning on (Not 3D flying) compared to metal ones.

    Ideas advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    David
