  • CSM GYRO newbie

Hi - I am just wondering if someone could give me some tips on the CSM SL420 smartlock gyro. it has the 3 leds for SET RV DEV DS

I am trying to set it up on a Gaui200 with a Futaba 6EX transmitter

I got this gyro 2nd hand -I have no instructions.

is it similar to a FUTABA gyro? I mean on channel 5 on yer transmitter you have negative % value for rate mode and positive % value for Head Hold?

I could DIY and search on the net but will get better instructions from you guys

    cheers

Hi, Not sure if its the same as other gyros, And not sure if you have the micro, But i use Csm gyros (SL420 standard, SL310 micro and SL560 micro) So know them quite well now !

Here is the manual for the SL420, It really is a doddle to set up.

      micro420.pdf

Have a look through it and if you have any probs Ill try and help you out !

I have a CSM 420 on a big Robbe heli (came with the heli 2nd hand). And so far all I have done is adjust the gain and it seems to work very well.

It behaves a bit differently to Futaba gyros on the ground and oddly it seems that turning up the gain too high results in reduced tailrotor pitch range. I have it at 86% gain right now (DX7 in 'gyro' mode). So far just hovered a bit but it holds very solid.

One thing to note about CSM gyro's ( I flew them for about 4 years), is that they perform much, much better if you get the tail control manually adjusted well first, i.e. get the tail adjusted in Normal mode, so that there is no rotational wander.

Ditto, there's no masking a bad set up with these gyro's.

Gav, i'm about to go flying at 'THE Field' again today right now. Come along if you want although your prob still at work. I'm only taking my Logo so it'll be 2 packs & done 'hence' why i need to buy 2 more packs.
