Why does my spartan insist on setting the gyro direction reversing the wrong way on my Atom?

Gyro mounted on top so no need to do it in reverse but it insists on setting it the wrong way when going through the setup

What do you mean "the wrong way"?

The "right way" is which ever way produces the correct response. That'll depend on: how the gyro's mounted, how the tail servo is mounted, the tail pitch mechanics, which direction turning the gyro increases pulse length, and which direction the servo turns for increasing pulse length.

Hmmmm If I just go by the instructions it gives the impression that it will automatically configure it the correct way. Even says that if the gyro is upside down you will need to give opposite stick but says nothing about servo orientation at all. Been ages since I've set one up so not sure about previous setups I've done. I was just going through the setup as in the book, this came to light purely because I realised it was setting it the wrong way

It may be that you have reversed the rudder channel to make the servo go the right way, thus meaning in set up stick movements will be reversed.

If it's going the wrong way , just reverse the servo channel on your radio. That's what i did with my 760 and it works fine.

No idea. Tail operates correctly to stick inputs but not to Gyro. never really read instructions that closely before so I guess it was a bad idea In my mind a bit vague to say the least as it infers as long as the gyro is right way up it will set the tail correctly. I know you need to double check these things and I noticed straight away it was wrong.

Dont you just give it left rudder when setting it up? Doesnt say anything about going right stick, it should do it automatically.

The first parameter to be configured is gyro direction reversing. Simply
push the rudder stick to the left and the ds760 will automatically match
your radio system. The tail blades will move to allow visual confirmation
of the correct rudder behaviour. The LED will also switch on/off to
indicate if reversing is active. When satisfied, toggle the gain switch to
Normal and back to AVCS mode. The servo will chatter once to confirm
                  completion of this step.

Exactly my point Paul, mine does not do what it says in the manual!

Contact their online support line, usualy very good.. If not Paul (Raptorheli2) knows his stuff.

If you mount it the opposite way to what it is now, does it work?

I don't know because I've run out of gyro pads so can't even try that

Ah, sorry, I entirely misunderstood how the Spartan was set up. Yes, their system should "just work" if you can tell your left from your right (so that's me out!)

Doesn't the Spartan remember it's previous setting of gyro direction ?.

Also, I seem to remember, during set-up the "reverse" function is just a flip/flop, in other words, hit the stick, and the direction changes, hit the stick again, and it changes back. . . . .at infinitum
                            Janek

Why does it always persist down at weekends ?
