Servo question?

Just rebuilt my 500 after a crash and its all gone back together ok, but I have noticed that one of my Hi Tec 5245 servos may have a problem.

I've just set the head up and put a pitch guage on and everything is fine, but with the lipo diconnected I cant move the servo in question by hand, there's no play in it, and it works fine when its live, and I can put a lot of load on it without it slipping or notching, it's making the full travel both ways and it's performing exactly as I'd expect. I just cant move it when disconnected.

Has anyone else had this?

It's the case for sure. I had a similar problem and, on dismantling the 5245 I found that one of the "recesses" that one of the gear shafts fits into was broken. See the pic below. The left hand forward recess is only half a circle. It should be like the one on the right, a full circle.

Just buy and fit a new case and all will be well.

They are not expensive. Fast Lad had them for £2.46 but are now nil stock.

Mine looked exactly the same as yours, luckily crash-alot had an old casing lying about so its fitted now & I should be flying it tomorrow!
