    your spot on. thats all normal mode does. since this is only doing it in HH mode i can only ASSUME it's not the gyro seeing a rudder input.

      Just checked it with a (hopefully...) correctly set-up DS760. (And a BuzzFlyer gyro.)

      Power up on bench. Both normal & HH mode leave tail at 'neutral' pitch.

      Switch to normal. Apply rudder trim. Tail pitch increases with trim. (1)

      Switch to HH. Tail moves to extreme - speed determined by amount of trim.

      Switch back to normal. Tail flicks back to (1).

      Switch to HH. Tail moves to extreme, as above.
