  • Tail Blowing out

I've experienced a few occasions where my tail turns 180 dgs. The first time was coming out of a stall turn backwards and the heli turned 180 and ended up nose first. The second was a loop where I entered nose first piroed 180 at the top and again tried to exit backwards. I ended up with again a 180 degree turn and ended up nose first. I've checked all the usual and even connected the pc to check settings. Anyone had anything similar.

I've checked the servo and it seems to be okay and I can't imagine that I have a problem with tail authority.

Is your pitch slider silky smooth? Maybe not enuff gain? You could try going in a ball on the servo and up the gain abit?? Or the belt tension isnt quite right?

Have you repeated the manoeuvres to see if it's a regular thing or if they're one off glitches

Didn't repeat them but the moves were the sameish Rich tail down. Pete you mention tail belt tension. Why would this cause a problem? In fairness it is a bit loose.

Can you try another servo to rule that part out?
If it's been fine for a while and has now just started happening, that would be the first place I would look.

                Cheers,

I've tried turning the servo horn by finger whilst under load and it seems okay but again I have to admit the tail does seem soggy in some places. I'll give that a try though as it has been fine. What goes wrong with a servo to make it do this sort of thing?

The 9254 that I had developed a dead spot at full throw. On the bench it was difficult to find but with the model in the hover the tail would suddenly swing.

It doesn't do it in the hover but that does seem to be the common thread though. Shameless plug indeed

Found it, unfortunately after an in. The tail output shaft bearing had been spinning in it's housing, melting it's way forwards. The belt when under a bit of load and because it could become loose was turning over on itself causing loss of drive because there's no teeth on the other side. Doh. Tail case upgrade methinks. Bought a new servo aswell!

I think your probably onto the right one. More holding power and quicker than the 620 for a few quid more. Try AVA Hobbies for good prices
