  • BLS 251 tail servo

    Hi all,
I recently got an Align regulator and lipo rx battery and was wondering if I need a step down between my gyro and tail servo? The regulator puts out 5.8v.
    Any ideas??

    Depends who you ask
I used to use a step down, but have now been convinced (by many others that don't) that it's not necessary. I've been running two 251's for 6mths + now, without a step down.

      Hmm, ok.
I had a lookon the net and found a 251 manual which states it works at 4.8v only, so I have ordered a step down now from Fast Lads But thanks for the reply

Did use a step down but due to a high percentage having failures on the step down decided the risk was less not bothering.

        No problems here.

I've been running 2 BLS251's at 6v for around a year now, no problems at all!

A fully charged nicad / nimh pack is over 5.5v. So i doubt if 5.8v regulated will hurt it.

people do run it on 6v successfully and i haven't heard of any failures.
