  • 611 gyro help

After stripping the gyro and servos from the Sniggery I fitted them to the Knight and took it for a test flight.
Whilst testing the piro rate and stops the tail belt snapped and I auto'd it down. Unfortunately, there was a bit of forward speed and the impact ripped off the undercarriage and broke both side frames - just lucky I guess

I had removed the stop delay that was on the 611 from when it was on the Sniggery (it saves the crown gears from stripping). Question is...
Shall I put the delay back in?
Any thoughts on the amount of delay?
Anyone added stop delay to a 611 when it was on a heli with belt drive?

    Thanks for your help
    Cheers, Lee.

The stops never seemed that sharp on a 611. What gain are you running?

ran a 601 on a raptor 50 never had a problem with the belt , what i would do is factory reset it the set it up for the model , was your belt ok and in good condition does it show signs off cracking between the teeth , just wondering if the belt was on its last legs

Had both the 601 and 611 gyro in my recently sold raptor 60V2 and Raptor 90E- Delay like you stated was purely added just to save the tail drive gears-notwithstanding the probs with drive pins coming out - You've basically answered your own question in that delay can be used for either belt or torque drive setups, but seems to me anyway that its more useful in a torque setup, and of course it reduces sudden changes to the tail end- depending on what style of flying you are doing of course- effects are similar like the 3D and F3C modes on the futaba gyro's..

          Heya,

Ive added some delay, to put less pressure on the servo and belt system, here are my settings:

          D1IB: 10%
          D1DA and D1DB: 40%
          Gain: 37%

            Thanks for the replies.

The belt looks fine with no obvious defects.

The gain was a bit high to start with and I backed it off a fair bit. It is possible that it was still too high and that, and a few harsh piro stops, was simply too much for the belt (the stops were quite impressive).

Unluckily for me, I now have a complete strip down to perform to replace both of the frames. I'll be taking things a lot gentler next time!!

              :P

I flown with the advanced options on 0% and the settings posted above, and i dont notice the diffrence, i keep them dialed in to keep peice of mind that it looks after the tail system a little better
