Will the Align governor sensor work on a RevMax/Revlock device once the plug has been changed?

Align Sensor on a RevMax

While I am no expert on the Revmax I can tell you that I recently connected an Align baseplate sensor to my CY ATG to replace the previous fan magnet sensor. It's a lot easier to position and works a treat.
I'm guessing that the only reason that it may not work is that the pulse it gets from detecting the crank is a lot longer (more degrees) than the pulse the ordinary ones get from a tiny magnet but you are still geting a connection every 1 revolution so it should be ok.Guy

Ah! I might be talking about something else then, my Align sensor doesn't use magnets it senses the position of the crankshaft through the backplate.Guy

I didn't know that Align made a backplate sensor?
Is that right?

That's brilliant - just what I needed to read.Originally posted by EZchopper View Post
So now I can leave the existing sensor in between the frames where it's already installed and just re-plug the other end with a normal servo plug using the reversed polarity explained in the helifreak thread.
Makes the whole process of fitting an alternative governor a lot simpler and neat.
Thanks again.JR Vibe Fifty fb (YS56)

magnet polarity doesn't matter - you fit one magnet north side up and other south side up, so the sensor will always detect one or the other, but not both.Originally posted by Bigbellypopper View PostWhat about the polarity of the magnet? If I recall correctly, the Align gov uses the opposite polarity to the Revmax/Revlock and ATG. I wonder if the polarity swap of the wires will mean the magnet polarity does not need to be changed.....JR Vibe Fifty fb (YS56)

As far as I am aware that is only the case with the CSM govs. I thought that most govs would only see the magnet if it was fitted the correct way. I know for a fact this is the case with the TT Alpha, as there is a red dot on one face of the magnet to show which way is should be fittedmagnet polarity doesn't matterCheers Russ

Yes, you're right, many govs only detect one pole of the magnet...... so if one magnet is north facing and the other is south facing then it will detect one of them, but not both..... and your fan or clutch will be beautifully balanced as well.Originally posted by Bigbellypopper View PostAs far as I am aware that is only the case with the CSM govs. I thought that most govs would only see the magnet if it was fitted the correct way.
