  • Help needed with SL720/8900G set up please.

I recently set my Gyro & servo to CSM for a check over. They found the fps was incorrect & too little expo which they rectified. Well i put it back on my Logo & done the quick set up & had a test. I found the tail will bounce when stopping on a right turn but left turn is very very slow & only stops after about 150 deg's. When the heli is on the ground & running if i give left rudd the heli will do a little nudge left & stay there, but when i give right rudder it will nudge right then bounce back sothe tail is where it started.
I've tried it at home on the floor (with throttle unplugged) & when i give either input the servo horn moves then bounces back. If say i make the horn move 90 deg's rapidly it will then stop at 90 but jump back to around 80deg's which is a hell of a lot when you watch the tail blades. I don't have the interface for the gyro so i cannot change any of that stuff. I don't know what is wrong or what to do next? Anyhelp is much appreciated.

    Thanks
    paddy

I think you need the interface to reset to default.you would need to buy the usb connector but you can download the software

CSM set the gyro to be correct for that servo. It was working fine before. What might cause the servo to bounce back?? I've tried phoning CSM but it's always an answer machine.

          Why not??

I doubt it will be running for friday. It's a bit too big for that hall though.

I would speak with CSM again as it sounds like something is very wrong with the firmware on the gyro.

They updated it to the latest. I will send them an email aswell as i find it difficult contacting them by phone.

I spoke with Colin Mills today (what a brilliant bloke, just like Mike at Aurorra) & started describing the problem & he finished describing it bang on. What i was doing was setting up the tail with zero pitch at centre as i was before as this gave a perfect tail each time. I now have to set the tail with around 8 deg pitch at centre to get a good hover in rate mode as it's now already set to counter act the torque. I think he was saying the gyro was set to make this adjustment itself but now i have to set it up mechanicaly & this was where i was going wrong. If it stops raining i should be able to have a test hover today. I can't explain it like colin but someone must understand & know what he was saying.

                  Sounds good.
Set it up and try it out in your front room. Just shove the coffee table to one side.

Let me do it in YOUR living room

I've just tested it out the back & it's perfect

Just need to re do the end points & my gain as i'd played around with them the other day thinking that may help.

I think i understand, I have always set up my tail mechanically and tested it in rate mode, then dialing out the trim with further mechanical adjustment till its perfect.

Yea lots do, i've always set up my 401's dead centre with no probs ever, but then you can do it the other with no probs too. I did not test it a moment ago in rate but HH only just to check the rudd was behaving as it should. I'll do a rate mode flight trim as soon as the weather allows.
